                                      PublicParticipation?

๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ’ฌWanjiku has always given her views positively on public participation. Though not much gained, she has known her needs since 1963 and long before. It becomes a shock to receive a curriculum, tailored in a manner contrary to her proposals and wishes. She has had no one to listen to her grievances๐Ÿ˜Ÿ. Grievances born from the education system she wanted, but, then short-changed by the brokers that be. This habit of overlooking Wanjiku should not be entertained for long. Why subject Wanjiku to public participation, and thereafter trash their opinions? Why spend public funds on public participation that will never be considered? If this persists, then, sit in an office and come up with an education system of your choice. No more time wasting with Wanjiku!

         Agriculture And Tourism

Kenya has depended chiefly on agriculture and tourism for foreign currency earnings. These two, then, must be treated specially. All economies worldwide are thirsty for foreign currency. Kenya needs foreign currency too for its development. With a good education system that addresses such global based economic issues, the nation finally will succeed as expected. A rich nation will be stable and carter for its citizen with ease.

Wanjiku has always proposed for agriculture and tourism, be taught at all levels in our education system. This has never been done. The planners must reconsider this proposal. Agriculture and tourism should be made compulsory subjects. This should be implemented from preprimary to university. Made compulsory in such a way that it should not matter the career one is pursuing. Whether one is taking a medical doctorate, engineering courses, education, actuarial science, journalism, political science, nursing, pharmacy, and all other careers, agriculture and tourism should be included, as compulsory subjects.

Possible Future Gains

Long after pursuing the career of choice, It is possible to end up doing either agriculture, tourism, or both in the end. Skills acquired in both agriculture and tourism shall be used by the graduates in acquiring employment or self-employment. Too much tarmacking shall come to an end. Agriculture and tourism shall always remain alive. Foreign currency shall be earned boosting the economy of our nation. Prosperity, in general, shall be realised, with both the youths and the elder putting money in their pockets. Health shall prevail among Kenyans. Indeed a wealthy nation is a healthy nation.

                                              Respect Wanjiku’s Intellectuality

Do not underrate Wanjiku. Though not much learned, as renowned educationists, they have a special instinct that can turn over the education benefits in this nation. Wanjiku is not biased whatsoever. They give opinions based on the reality on the ground, without discrimination. Respect Wanjiku and no complaints shall emerge after the implementation of the new education system. It is painful that the collection of views through public participation is a tedious duty, but not respected. The collected views are received by educationists, who, with the help of politicians, manipulate the original report, to suit who it matters. To Wanjiku’s surprise, their report is killed and dear! This killing must be killed! Let Wanjiku be respected, heard, and recognized.

Yes, Agriculture And Tourism In The System.

๐Ÿ’ข Stop The  Irresponsible Killing Now! ๐Ÿ‘€

Embrace Digital Education For Progress.

The Site

๐Ÿ™†The lack of employment opportunities in Kenya has left many, especially the youths pondering what to do to earn a living. Tarmacking becomes the order of the day. It becomes fruitless efforts To help the youths, especially the many from higher learning institutions, the government has a site where the youths can be trained and acquire online employment. I urge them to join AJIRA for employment.

Ajira Platform

Ajira is a learning platform in which the learner learns virtually. They learn mainly from freelancing. This a good learning platform where most youths learn online, and eventually acquire skills to work online. With Ajira, a government-sponsored program, no more tarmacking hopelessly. Our youths can get a good smooth economical transition from schools, colleges, and universities to self-employment.

In Ajira learning, the learner needs either a smartphone, or a desktop, a laptop, an effective network, and data bundles to enroll in the program of one’s choice. No fees are required!

Need For More Sponsors

The long-lived Harambee Spirit was well applied some years back when development was realised countrywide. Many learning institutions and medical facilities today are products of Harambee Spirit.

Able Kenyans, of goodwill, can in Harambee Spirit, come up with platforms similar to Ajira, to sponsor many school leavers to acquire online skills, for employment. Our youths need directions. They need support to qualify for their education. Some of them have degrees, and certificates but are jobless. Unfortunately, our education system does not adequately prepare school leavers for employment.

Curriculum, Next To Employment

Calling for voluntary sponsors, may not be sufficiently adequate. Apart from the initiative from the government through Ajira, much more needs to be done. Ajira, being an adult entry program, should be embraced by the Ministry of Education, as a value-added initiative.

Online, employment preparation should be put in place as from our primary schools' classes. It is as simple as teaching life skills in primary schools. It can be rolled wisely as a theory lesson in primary schools. No gadgets, data bundles, and internet are needed at this level, the last two classes before primary level exit. It should be basic, easy, and well presented being introductory. This online learning should then be practically introduced in secondary school classes. Here, the use of gadgets, data bundles, and the internet is put into use. It should not be an examinable subject, but, life skills learning, preparing students for employment after school.

The Benefits

The success of digital learning in schools comes with handfuls of successes. These benefits are to the learner, parent, community, and nation. In a bigger scope, there shall be benefits globally. The unemployment problems shall be solved. Most problems that accompany unemployment such as drug abuse, unwanted pregnancies, early marriages, and general crime will reduce drastically.

When our youths acquire employment, the economy will grow, there will be peace, and both mental and medical health shall improve. We would also expect marriages to increase and survive with healthy children.

Do you have a contrary opinion?

Changes In Education System

The Government's Ultimate Role

I believe that the government should tailor any education system to benefit the learner in the present, and in the future. It should empower the learner to benefit economically eventually. It must be economically competitive to cater to the needs of Wanjiku fully. It must be politically and socially beneficial to Wanjiku. The education system must not be too short-lived such that it doesn't meet desired goals.

All The Key Players

A good education system must bring on board all the key players. These key players include local leaders, education officers, teachers, parents, and learners. The key players must be involved during the plotting, scrutiny, and implementation of the education system. The key players shall play, a vital role during the initial conception of the idea to have a new education system in the country. In the same breadth, the key players must be aboard the scrutiny of the accepted education system. Everyone must contribute freely to the evaluation of the draft system before final implementation. They should be at liberty to interrogate the values, visions, and missions of the education system.

It is during implementation that teething problems are expected. The stakeholders must be very keenly active to evaluate the newborn education system.

The Continuity

A critical survey of the progress in the system is paramount for the final success of the newborn system. This critical survey is important and should allow subtraction and addition to the content. Immediately need for any subtraction or addition arises, it should be done wisely and technically. Education materials and book publishers must be involved here. They should immediately adjust their contents without necessarily publishing new books.

The critical survey may finally refine the system almost to another new education system at a cheaper rate.

What is your take? Do you have a contrary opinion?

The Ineffective Local SEOs

                                                                          New!

๐Ÿ˜…New Era, New Promises, New Systems, New Voices, New Ideas. Does Wanjiku need these? Wanjiku, here we come, with a brand new Education System. And, just asking curiously; What is the role of a Senior Education Officer(SEO) in education๐Ÿ’?

                                                                      The SEO, And The System

I see a situation where the SEO ๐Ÿ˜€is not conversant with the actual content in the education system. Is the SEO aware of what the child is learning at school? Is the SEO in touch with Wanjiku, in terms of her opinion on the education system at hand? Do you know that SEO spends most of the time in service receiving, dispatching, and signing circulars and many other documents๐Ÿ˜“?

๐Ÿ˜ซThe circulars and other documents are not on how best can be done to improve the education standards as per the needs of Wanjiku.No.The SEO uses the circulars and documents to monitor teachers’ attendance and population, the school infrastructure, the pupils’ attendance, and population, watchmen employed, books, other learning, and teaching materials purchased, the school means scores, and how many BOG meetings have been held. All these are silent on how the benefits of the system to Wanjiku. The SEO terms of service, seemingly, have nothing to do with Wanjiku๐Ÿ™Š.

                                                                          The SEO, AndWanjiku

๐Ÿ’Radical changes must be done to bring these officers aboard. . Whether the SEO is the county boss, sub-county boss, or whichever level the SEO is, they should in the forefront to monitor and advise the government on the education system. Each SEO should have the education needs for Wanjiku at their fingertips daily ๐Ÿ™‹. The officers should monitor the relevance of the education system at hand.

The System, As A Political Tool

Politics; Politics; Politics, in all fields. Must we wait for politicians to change and in some cases, mess up with the education system? Apart from the SEO on the ground, teachers are in direct contact with Wanjiku. The teachers are in touch with the feelings and opinions of Wanjiku.✌They can advise the ministry of education on the merits and demerits of the education system through their immediate SEO. This will put off politicians not again use education as a political campaign tool. Let them use roads, water, electricity, and title deeds, and not the education system. The management of the system is the prerogative single duty of education experts๐Ÿ˜’.

                                                                      The Role Of Our Universities

Kenya is rich and blessed with many education scholars and education engineers ๐Ÿ™Œ. Our universities have many educationists. The parliament should come up with legislation where our universities have permanent task forces on the education system in Kenya. This will enable the body to interrogate the SEO in the field on the wellness of the education system at hand. It will also detach our education system from politics. Furthermore, the university research institutions shall be seen doing their work accordingly. Do you think the government will save money spent on the appointment of politically born task forces☺?

                                                                    Our Local Languages, Worthiness

Though the Kenyan education system should be in line with global goals, it should focus chiefly on our needs and goals. ๐Ÿ™‹Each SEO should be facilitated by the government, in educational tours to learn how education systems are tailored toward the needs of the local consumer.

๐Ÿ™‰Some countries mainly learn in their local languages. Japan and China, the Asian superpowers, do they learn in either French or English? These are among the G7 and leading economies. Is it possible to promote our local languages in our homegrown education systems? Kiswahili, Gikuyu, Luhya, Dholuo, Kalenjin, and Kisii are some of the most popularly spoken languages in Kenya. Will their promotion delink us from the International borders? Is it that we can only produce experts in various fields eg, engineers, doctors, pilots, etc by learning English, and French ๐Ÿ˜ ?

My local SEO, Lead Me, In Eye Opening. Focus On Reality. Our National Heritage Is Worth.

Education , Parenting, And Discipline

๐Ÿ™

                                                               The Kababas And The Kamamas

                                      ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘Ž

๐Ÿ‘ซEvery parent has to discipline, do proper parenting, and prepare their children for formal education. This is done hopefully so that the child shall eventually benefit from school education under perfect discipline๐Ÿ‘.

When I talk about parenting, my mind goes back to our days of discipline, and when parents were parents indeed. (I am not belittling today's parenting, but there is a big difference.) Many changes have taken place. The environment is quite different, where parenting and discipline in children are questionable.

There are many areas concerning education, discipline, and parenting. Let me dwell on the parenting and discipline of the child at home, a child ๐Ÿ‘ถ  at age eight years and below. This is the child at home and the child in Grade 3. This is the 'kababa' and 'kamama'(my dear dad and my dear mum) of today's parents. The moment these names are entertained, things go haywire in parenting and discipline! There were no such names in those early days of parenting.

๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿ‘ฆThe kababas and kamamas are let to behave freely with no discipline in the house. They touch and play with anything freely in the house, as equal owners of the properties. They stand and play on the sofas with dirty feet. They seriously jump on the seats almost breaking them. They, both parents and the children do not care about any possible damage. Is this parenting? Is it proper discipline? Thekababas and kamamas should not be left to enjoy free discipline!

There is no distinction between the parents' seat and the children's seat. Anyone of them can sit ๐Ÿ’บ  in any seat. No boundaries are put, it is a free space in their free world. A free world parenting that kills discipline, responsibility, respect, and care. This freedom results in 'my discipline my choice.' Parents have no control over their children's behaviour. This is a lack of discipline and disastrous parenting!

When I hear of a sofa, a chill runs down my spine. It is unbelievable! A child touching a sofa, leave alone stepping on it! This was a capital offence in Yester's years of parenting and discipline. The sofas were meant for parents and important visitors. Sitting or playing in parents' space was unheard of. It was abominable. A taboo indeed! The restrictions were tough, good, and accepted by all. It was good discipline. No alternative behaviour was known in parenting๐Ÿ™‹.

At school, these children join a playgroup๐Ÿ‘ถ, pre-primary 1 and 2, then Grade1 onwards. This is where discipline problems escalate (I am just whispering). Most of the teachers' parenting and discipline were similar to these children's. Do you think their behaviour is much different? Some time, not long ago, when I was the CEO of a certain school, I was a victim of this generation of teachers and their parenting and discipline. I had a teacher who would come to school unprepared to work-no discipline. In class, there was no difference, in her absence or presence. Children would play and make noise at will in her presence-lack of discipline. I warned her severally and later, I delegated the deputy to deal with her. It was not easy to correct late parenting and discipline. He recommended we call upon the guidance and counselling department to advise her accordingly. It was my administrative discipline and tactic to get a second opinion before taking any action to discipline. It always worked. This one yielded, too, at last!๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿ’—Progressively, the children graduate to upper primary. The management of upper classes from Grade 4 is different, in comparison to the lower classes. In the upper classes, the subjects are allocated to various teachers. This is an opportunity for pupils to intermingle with the teachers, both young and old as they discipline them. The older teachers are mostly no-nonsense teachers. They are disciplinarians who do not swallow the misbehaviour as kababas and kamamas and their parenting and discipline issues.

It is not a one-day task to undo the misbehaviour in the discipline. It needs discipline, courage, and patience from devoted teachers and parents. After a while, most of the pupils adapt to the new normal discipline. Unfortunately, there are a few who feel they are being undone from the kababas and kamamas  parenting by their parents and teachers, and they threaten suicide where some succeed๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿ˜ฟ!

๐Ÿ˜‡Parenting and discipline issues can easily be solved. Some of the best ways to solve this social burden are by including parenting and discipline as a subject, in tertiary colleges, and universities. This will serve as an eye-opener to youthful parents. Worship houses can play a big role. The worship leaders can guide the young parents on parenting and discipline. Likewise, chiefs and other local leaders can organize seminars to advise the youth on parenting and discipline. School management should bring in place the rotational method where teachers do a collective responsibility to handle discipline in all the classes.

Parenting and discipline must be free from corruption. Though, not open corruption, it matures into total corruption! Children must not be given bribes to perform a task. Be it school work or homework. This bribery (silent corruption), creates a notion in the mind of the children, that unless they are given something, then, they would not perform well in any task, both at home ๐Ÿก  and in school ๐ŸŽ“ . This is not good discipline.

Old parents, young parents, and teachers remember๐Ÿ™‡; we can't separate discipline from parenting, and discipline from education.

Discipline✌, Discipline☺, Discipline๐Ÿ‘.
